We are looking for somebody fabulous to step in and become our new Shop & Tour Manager at both Stannergill Distillery and Dunnet Bay Distillery.
After seven years of enchanting guests with captivating stories, hosting lively cocktail workshops, and extending her warm welcome to all who entered our shop at Dunnet Bay Distillery, our lovely Joanne is embarking on a new journey to Orkney.
We are now recruiting for the right person to join our small and happy team.

We have been welcoming visitors to our Dunnet Bay Distillery and offering tours since 2015. This has evolved over the years from a simple distillery tour to offering many different experiences in our dedicated shop and visitor area.
We like to keep things fresh and are always looking to offer something different. We have created Cocktail Workshops, Art Galleries, Tasting Stories and wonderful Cocktail Afternoon Teas and even hosted weddings!
We have pivoted, turned and made adjustments as the need arose. During Covid times we completely re-vamped our offering to comply with social distancing; we did this by building fabulous Boat Sheds and creating an immersive tasting session accompanied by coastal stories.
The person we are looking for will be full of ideas and ready to embrace new challenges and change.
Our Shop & Tour Manager is a varied role where being responsible for providing a fantastic service to our visitors is at the heart of it.
We are now just about ready to fully open Stannergill Distillery. The past four years have been spent planning and renovating the dilapidated old Castletown Mill to become our whisky distillery.
Our shop and restaurant opened in November 2015 and we are now getting ready to open fully to visitors from Easter time.
We will offer a selection of tours to cater for whisky and history enthusiasts alike. We expect our tour offering to evolve over time and there will be opportunity to add other events.
This is a full-time position with annualised hours and includes weekend working. The role will involve, but not limited to…
- Ensuring all our guests are welcomed to both venues and that they leave smiling

- You will need to work at pace during the busy summer months and have an ability to delegate and prioritise duties.
- A natural problem solver who will provide solutions to any issues that arise. You will be able to think independently, analytically and strategically.
- You will be required to have an understanding of technology to be able to operate our booking system although full training will be given.
- A willingness to help out in other departments as required, or to assist with small production jobs that can be completed inside the shop.
We look for individuals who are passionate, efficient, warm , friendly and flexible. In return, we are a fair and inclusive employer and will always seek to help you and ensure your happiness. We have fun and a generous holiday allowance!

Sponsor a Roof Tile
There are still tiles which could have your name on them! If you would like to be a lasting part of this buildings history then please consider sponsoring a roof tile. When the distillery is open to the public you will be able to come along to identify your tile, as we will provide you with it’s positioning on the roof.
